research and planning: questionnaire results

After handing a number of questionnaires out to people that are applicable to my target audience, I gained a number of different results, however in some cases many people were interested in the same things, for instance everyone who I asked all said they would only see a horror film if the regulation was a 15 or a 18, 15 being less scary and 18 being the worst. Similarly again each person I asked said they only ever watched films on a DVD or at the cinema, no one mentioned blu ray being one of the viewing options. The main films that were listed by my audience included films such as insidious, Paranormal Activity, Blair witch, The Descent, Scream or Final Destination. Each of the films listed each include a main character where something strange happens to them, for example in insidious and Paranormal Activity, the children are the main characters, in insidious the little boy gets possessed by the devil and in Paranormal Activity its the children that the evil is after.

Research and planning: The proposal

The proposal is an idea that you have for your teaser trailer.

Proposal 1:
2 year old will be left abandoned on a families door step, family can't have children so family take her in and bring her up as her own. Her birthday is the 06/6/06, on her 6th birthday she becomes possessed and goes on a murderous rampage. We will use zoom in shots and closeup shots which will focus on the possessed child. The music will be very eerie.

Proposal 2:
A child who has been bullied through school grows up and is left psychologically mental due to the bullying and takes revenge on those who have bullied him. he kills them one by one. We will use long shots to show his situation and surroundings he is in, the music will be very low key and eerie.

Proposal 3:A family move into a new home unaware that there are mysterious occupants in the disused attic. At night, the family are terrorized. As the nights go on, the families lives are put at risk when they each start dying one by one. Long shots will be used to to show each family member in bed and the strange things that happen to them. Zoom in shots will be used to zoom into the mysterious occupants in the attic, and when there are noises zoom will be used to see where they are coming from, The music we will use is digetic.

Research and Planning: Research from the London trip-October 5th-7th 2011

Whilst in London we visited the London film museum, during this visit we walked around the whole museum taking photos of all the props that would fit in the horror genre for our teaser trailer, I also took photos of the other props for other genres to add to my genre research (first post on my blog). Below are the pictures of the props that I took, again some fit with my genre, some don't.

Also whilst we were in London we visited the BFI media tech, whilst here we watched Sweeney Tod and peeping Tom, this helped us research more for mise-en-scene, sound, editing and cinematography.
